Gifts to the Rowing Program

The Grand Valley Rowing program is not considered a varsity sport at Grand Valley State University. This means that the team can only receive limited funds from the university leaving the student-athletes responsible to pay for expenses such as travel, lodging, entry fees, and equipment either out of pocket or through fundraising efforts like the Rent-a-Rower program. This can be a difficult task for students-athletes who strive to keep up with homework, maintain good grades, perform their best at practice, and even hold a job.

The Rowing team is asking for your support. You can have an enormous impact on the performance of the team by giving them the opportunity to train at the level necessary to compete at the championship level. Every gift, regardless of size, will help the team succeed this year.

For more information about making a gift, please visit the Grand Valley State University Development website: University Development

You can designate your gift directly to the Grand Valley Rowing Program and be confident they will receive 100% of your gift. Remember, all or a portion of your gift may be tax-deductible.

Please help Grand Valley Crew get faster and make a direct impact on the Laker Navy’s boat speed next spring. We all want GVSU to get faster—add your name to our list of donors!

With smart planning, donating appreciated stocks or property to the Grand Valley Crew will give you even greater tax benefits than a gift of the same value in cash. Giving appreciated securities and real estate lets you deduct fair market value on your income taxes, yet avoids potential taxes on capital gains-and sales commissions. For further information about gifts of securities, or for answers to any questions related to gifts to GVSU, please contact the GVSU Development Office at 616-331-6000 or giveto@gvsu.edu. The staff can also help you multiply the value of your contribution, if your employer matches charitable giving!
