Message From Senior Dayna Campbell ’12

Rowing for me has been a series of firsts for me. It was the first sport other than soccer I had ever competed in this intensely since I was 5 years old. It was the first organization- academia related, sports related, or other wise that I joined at Grand Valley. It was the first time I had beat 52 other teams for a gold medal- Dad Vail Regatta 2010. It was the first time I had been to Europe to compete on an international scale. It was the first time I have been a part of a National Championship team. But I think the most important first, is that for the first time I feel like this is what I was meant to be a part of. Every athlete, coach, boat, oar has a place in my heart and I will never forget anything rowing has taught me. I am so thankful and grateful for all of my firsts, seconds, thirds and for everything that is to come.
