2017-2018 Officers

Faith Platz – President

Faith graduated from Grand Haven High School in 2014, and is now a senior at GVSU. She is an Honors student pursuing a double major in Statistics and Economics with a minor in Data Science. Faith has been a part of some successful crews over the years, finishing at the ACRA medal dock every year of her rowing career. She also had the opportunity to race the 2x at the 2016 Henley Women’s Regatta in the UK. Aside from rowing, Faith facilitates structured learning workshops for introductory statistics students. After graduating this April, she plans to continue her education at the graduate level. In her (limited) free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and traveling. Faith is proud to represent this team, and can’t wait to make her last year with the Laker Navy one to remember.

Elliot Rieth – Vice President

Elliot is a junior at Grand Valley this year, and is studying Public Relations. This next year being Elliot’s 7th year of rowing, he is excited to see what opportunities await the team, including a chance to go to the Henley Royal Regatta a second time. His time with Grand Valley Rowing has been both fun and rewarding, with a school record at ACRA in his novice 8+ and many new friends gained throughout his years on the team. In addition to Vice President, Elliot has also been a part of the team’s administration as the team’s Rent-A-Rower Coordinator. Outside of rowing and school, Elliot enjoys singing in a band with his friend Erik, called Sewn, listening to records, and riding his motorcycle. Elliot loves music, his friends and family, and rowing at Grand Valley.

Allyson Hicks – Treasurer

Allyson graduated from Black River Public School in 2015. She is currently a junior at Grand Valley. Allyson is an Honors student majoring in English with minors in Applied Linguistics and Mathematics. When not studying or rowing, Allyson spends her time reading, drawing, and hanging out with friends. She played basketball throughout middle and high school, but wasn’t initially decided about playing sports in college. Allyson’s mother and grandparents have rowing experience, so she decided to check the sport out after seeing posters around campus. She fell in love with the sport, and she has made some great friends on the team. She’s looking forward to another great season!

Secretary Keller

Rachel Keller – Secretary

Rachel graduated from Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, IL, and will be a Junior this year. Rachel is majoring in Exercise Science and hopes to pursue a career in Cardiac Rehabilitation. When not rowing, she enjoys drawing and anything outdoors. Rachel holds two positions on the E-board, and is looking forward to an upcoming season full of adventures, team trips, friendships, and racing. She greatly appreciates her family, friends, and all the opportunities that the Laker Navy has given her.
