Laker Navy Leaves ACRA with Heads Held High

The Laker Navy had a strong showing at the 10th annual ACRA National Championship in Gainesville, GA this weekend. Running from shady spot to shady spot, every action done this weekend was done to conserve energy for the races in the southern heat.

The Varsity Women’s Heavyweight 8+, Men’s JV Heavyweight 8+, and the Men’s Varsity 2- all raced in the Grand Final, each taking 3rd, 7th, and 7th respectively, with the Women having silver snatched out from under them in the last 20 meters of the race.

The Men’s Varsity Heavyweight 8+ finished 2nd in the B Final, finishing 10th overall. Following that, the Men’s Varsity 1x finished 2nd, Men’s Novice 4+ finished 5th, and Women’s Novice 4+ finishing 7th, all in the B Final.

The Women’s Varsity 4+’s final was cancelled due to anticipated poor weather, but they made it out of heats and into the C final.

The Lakers walk away from the last regatta of the season with their heads held high, each of us with a lesson to learn from and a reason to look forward to next fall when we return for the Fall 2017 season!
