GVSU Rowing Club Heading for Oak Ridge

The coaches and athletes of the Grand Valley State Rowing Team are heading to Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the annual spring break training camp! Friday the entirety of the Laker armada will leave Allendale for warmer waters, the official start of the spring season.

One of the premiere rowing destinations in the country, the Laker Navy will join the thousands of rowers that come to Oak Ridge each year. Though the team has been taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and rowing on the Grand River, Oak Ridge marks the true start to rowing on the water. During this critical period many hard strokes will be taken to knock off the rust, building towards the pinnacle that is spring racing.

The team will also be joined by George Washington, the second meeting of the teams following the scrimmage in Washington D.C. last spring.

On behalf of the entire team, we would like to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe spring break! We invite you to follow the athlete’s daily blogs, which will be posted daily at the beginning of the trip and will continue throughout the week. Check back here often for the latest information and pictures of the trip!

The Grand Valley State University Rowing Club challenges its student-athletes to reach the highest level to which they aspire both academically and athletically, while continuing to build and sustain a nationally competitive intercollegiate rowing program.
